We watch a lot of TV. Our viewing habits are better now that we don't have cable or satellite. We used to troll the hundreds of channels for anything to watch, even lowering our standards for terrible sci-fi movies (sorry, Mom) or unimaginative reality shows.

Now that we only use our Roku, our choices are limited. This is a good thing, as I personally can never make a decision when there are more than 5-10 choices available to me. Jon will read this and laugh. In reality, I can't make a decision no matter how many choices there are (at least, a timely decision).

We subscribe to Hulu Plus and Netflix. There are a few shows that aren't available on Hulu, so we might watch those online, but this is rare. As the school year winds down, so do our favorite shows. Most of them have already aired their season finales. This is the time of year where we get a little despondent. Sure, there are a few good summer shows, but I really begin to miss seeing Temperance and Seely every week. I will pine away the summer waiting to here Rick Castle say something witty, watch Phil Dunfey be his goofy self and Nick Burkhardt making Portland safe from the extreme weirdos.

In the meantime, Jon and I have been watching movies on Netflix. Some of them have been recent movies, but most are older independent films that are a little obscure, or were never widely publicized. It has been fun discovering new films. Jon and I finally went and saw Avatar 3D last night. Surprisingly, it is still playing in the theater in Pullman. That James Cameron is raking in the money, and after last night I realize the movie theaters are as well. We paid $11.50 for a $8.50 ticket because of the 3D — got some cool black glasses and headed inside. Now, the last 3D movie we went to was Meet the Robinsons and it was pretty amazing. Those glasses looked like classic '80s Oakleys and the kids thought they were great when we brought them home to them (yes, we went without our kids — they were in school).

**Side note: during the advertisements before the show I saw one that made me laugh. A chiropractor was advertising his office with a picture of a person holding their back and grimacing in pain. After the info. for the office it said. Come in for a FREE 15-minute conversation.   Wow, you can get your back adjusted and have a conversation with the chiropractor for free. What a deal!

As we were sitting waiting for the movie to begin I noticed the glasses had a warning message on them. The first is not to wear them out in sunlight as they do not protect against UV light. The second made me angry. There is an anti-theft device built into the glasses. Okay, so the first warning is only for those who manage to get out of the theater (during a daytime showing) with the glasses.

Basically, at the end of the show there was a theater employee there to collect the glasses I had paid $3.00 for. I didn't know rentals could be that pricey.
The attendant thanked the woman behind me after she returned her glasses and as she walked away she said "Yeah, thank YOU, for making sure I gave BACK my glasses."
So, I'm not the only one who found it ridiculous.

Spoiler Alert:
On a lighter note, the movie was pretty good. The colors were amazing and so was the animation. I could have done without all the fighting, especially the 40 minutes it took at the end to kill the scary army guy. As far as movies as metaphors for destroying what isn't ours goes, it was okay. Worth the $11.50? Not so much. I would have been happy watching at home without the 3D and rental glasses.

Well my Dell laptop is dying a slow death. First the battery started to lose charge (it only stays good for about 30 minutes) and now the charger is doing weird things, like buzzing at me and not working. So now I have a dead laptop and no way to charge it unless I want to pony up $60 for a new charger. I know that I will have to eventually, seeing as how I have a ton of stuff on my computer. Fortunately I really don't need any of it right now. Jon and I are getting new laptops for the new semester - MacBooks. We are so excited to change over to Mac. Hopefully we will really like them, they are not cheap.

Just an update for everyone: Moira turns 8 this Saturday and she will be baptized at the end of the month on the 23rd here in Moscow. She is very excited. Grandma and Grandpa Humphreys are coming and we are going to show them how good a time you can have in Hippyville. Then right after that Jon and I start school- so don't expect too much of our blogs for awhile. Today we are taking Maggie to see Prince Caspian at the dollar theater in Pullman. Then we will have to endure weeks of her retelling the story to us, even though she has already read it. Oh well, at least I get popcorn.
